Hundreds of years ago Native Americans migrated across the Western US moving with the seasons in search of game as well as natural foods found along their travels. One of the items that became a staple of their diet was a native grass seed known as Indian ricegrass. This grass was, and is, found from the prairies of Manitoba to Southern California. Typical of all native grasses, this grass is very hardy and drought resistant. During the last 8 years Montana State University has been studying this grass and other native grasses in hopes of finding a potential cash crop with drought resistance that would provide Montana's beleaguered grain farmers with an alternatives to wheat and barley, that even in good growing years barley provides a break even return on their efforts. During this research it was found that this grass was not only drought resistant but also gluten free.

Amazing Grains Growers Cooperative has been formed with the primary objective of producing gluten-free products. Strict controls are in place from the field, planting, harvesting, processing and packaging within our exclusively gluten-free facility. Montina Baking Supplement (milled from Indian ricegrass) as well as all other ingredients found in Montina products are Elisa tested for purity and must meet or exceed the highest gluten free standards in the world <20 ppm. Montina is 100% Indian ricegrass which is an ancient grass that has not been engineered and has remained the same for thousands of years.
